Healthy BBQ without Cancer

A mixture of smoke as well as direct flame contact with our foods boosts the cancer risk, combined with the kind of food we tend to prepare on the Barbie. As we continue to take pleasure in the summertime heat wave, thousands of folks are enjoying outdoors cooking on BBQ and exposing themselves to cancer. Then again while a lot of people worry just about a drop of rain spoiling their enjoyment, research workers raise a very much bigger worry: that consuming BBQ meat, fish or perhaps poultry could result in cancer. And so, how much should we worry? and how to get Healthy BBQ without Cancer In recent times, an increasing body of research has discovered cooking meat over a flame raises our subjection to cancer-causing carcinogens referred to as PAHs as well as HCAs. These could harm the DNA in our genes, likely resulting in skin, liver, tummy along with other forms of cancer. One particular research at Minnesota University, US, discovered that individuals who consumed well-done meat cooked at extremely high temperatures were 60% more prone to grow pancreatic cancer. Even though this risk also applies to some other high-heat cooking methods for instance frying and then grilling, PAHs as well as HCAs come from a combination of smoke and then direct flame touch with the meal, therefore barbecuing poses even more of a risk. The kind of meat we tend to consume at barbecues poses an issue, as well. A greater consumption of burgers is linked to a 79% increased danger of advanced prostate cancers. Prepared red meat, akin to ribs together with sausages, is associated with digestive cancers. The meat by itself is a danger still the issue is furthermore partly because of the chemicals employed to preserve these items. Jessica Kirby, of Cancer Research United Kingdom, states: There is certain evidence to recommend cooking beef at very high temperatures, like barbecuing, can cause chemical substances that might boost the risk of cancer. There are still sometimes questions regarding how much effect this has on people’s general cancer risk. There’s additionally strong proof connecting red and then processed beef to higher dangers of bowel cancer, therefore it’s recommended that you reduce the quantity you eat by choosing smaller portions or perhaps eat alternatives, such as some seafood like fish and then chicken. The accumulation of carcinogens occurs in one of three methods while we barbecue – by the surface of the meals getting infected by smoke, by means of the breakdown of [...]

9 Steps to the PERFECT Music Festival

32 million people attend music festivals each year.  Are you interested in hosting the PERFECT Music Festival? Is yours on their radar? Hosting the perfect music festival is not easy. Talent aside, there are monetary, zoning, and scheduling considerations. County Fair USA breaks down what makes the best festivals tick. Follow each step for an event that can't be beat! Step 1) Fund your music festival Firefly Music Festival in Delaware is nothing less than an underdog success story. Their festival raised $1 million within 24 hours of launch. Yes, 24 hours plus 5 years of planning. You've got an idea, but what's your pitch? A music festival is a pipe dream without money. A sad fact is that profit is the only reason suits would take a shot on an eager upstart. Bootstrapping will be your primary option until the festival inevitably scales up (Am I being presumptuous? Of course!). Firefly built expertise hosting smaller, niche events. Investors won't take a shot on festivals that aim too high. If you're more an 'ideas kind of guy/gal', hire someone that has been down this road. Crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter and GoFundMe let amateurs test the waters. Hell, even experienced planners use crowdfunding to quickly build capital. The premise is simple: Pitch your festival online. People from all over the world can back your project. If there is demand, it will reach appropriate funding before a deadline. Combine crowdfunding with social media for maximum exposure. Facebook Pages are mandatory! Younger attendees prefer to keep friends in the loop on Facebook and Twitter. Proposition other event managers in your niche. Most local establishments are keen to help entrepreneurs because this opens a cross-promotional avenue. Don't be discouraged if your project fails to garner adequate backing. Even festivals boasting world-famous headliners flop. Rock band 'My Bloody Valentine' agreed to headline Hop Farm Music Festival in Kent, England. A hostile economic climate killed its momentum. There could be a number of reasons for an initial failure. Pinpoint costs down to the last toilet paper roll and be prepared to recalculate your budget several times. Don't be surprised to break even your first time 'round. Potential backers desire some semblance of structure. Work through the remaining steps on our list before making your pitch. Step 2) Insure your music festival You name it, someone's insured it. So why not music festivals? Festivals are a profit-making enterprise like any brick-and-mortar business. City/town officials will regard it as such. Suppose an errant cigarette burns [...]

Fermented Foods, Health Fad or Fab?

Fermented Foods: The Ultimate Guide to Good Bacteria Bacteria in food? Sounds gross alright. Will a restaurant advertising “bacteria-filled” food even make a sale? People would probably just forgo this for a popular fast-food chain. But did you know that you may be better off eating some kinds of bacteria-laden food rather than munching on a bowl of fries? You see, there are two kinds of bacteria- the good and the bad. While you want to kill the latter with an antibacterial agent right away, you need to have as much as you can of the good kinds. One of the best sources of good bacteria are fermented foods. Fermented Foods?  What are they? Fermentation is the process by which organic substances are transformed into simpler compounds. This is made possible with the use of catalysts such as yeasts, molds or bacteria. Fermented foods are often described by food enthusiasts as having a “unique taste” or a cross between fresh and rotten. They will not usually say that it’s delicious but some of the expensive delicacies of today have undergone fermentation, producing exotic tastes. The process of fermenting foods dates back to almost 8,000 years ago. Our ancestors developed this by chance and some even associated this with a divine intervention. Bacteria was not a known phenomenon back then but what our ancestors did notice was the energy they had from consuming fermented foods. Fermented Delicacies Foods on your shelf may not be labelled as such but some of these have undergone fermentation. Coffee beans for example are exposed to natural yeasts and bacteria when air dried, adding richness to its flavor. That wine served while you were dining out in an expensive restaurant are crushed grapes treated with yeast just like the beer you share with your buddies. Other fermented products that could be easily acquired in the supermarket are yogurt, bread, pickles, cheese, chocolate, tea, and salami. Each country have their own variety of fermented foods. For example, Korea is known for its kimchi, China for century egg and miso for Japan. Health Benefits The most popular reason why fermented foods are recommended by experts is because these are rich in lactobacilli. How can this be beneficial to your health? Contrary to common belief that the presence of lactobacilli is only beneficial for the gut, the discovery of Guts and Physiology syndrome (GAPS) established a connection in digestive processes affecting the way the brain works. The overall health of digestive system has been linked to [...]

Eating on the Wild Side

We have been breeding the nutrition out of our food for a long time. Corn in the super market is ultra sweet. Most of our food is ultra sweet. This is why we have a nation of 80% pre diabetics or diabetics. We have taken the phytonutrients out of our food. Some foods in the store have 10 to twenty times more nutrients then others. Purple, red blue or black foods have a lot of nutrients. Red berries, blueberries, purple carrots, purple potatoes are better for us have and are rich in anthocyanins. Anthocyanins, can help control and get rid of a lot of our modern diseases. The artichoke is one of the most nutritious foods in the supermarket. It is very rich in antioxidants. The shallot is one of most nutritious foods. Garlic is a potent cancer fighting vegetables. You need to crush the garlic or chop it and let it set for ten minutes so the two ingredients can combine to make allicin, a potent cancer fighting compound. Tomatoes become much richer in lycopene the longer you cook it. You should eat three to four servings from the cabbage (horseradish, or kale) family a week. They can reduce cancer significantly. There are a lot of great tips about eating nutritiously in this book Eating on the Wild Side by Jo Robinson. Carrots were originally, purple, red or sometimes yellow. Four hundred years ago a red carrot was crossed with a yellow carrot to come up with orange carrots. We now know the original purple carrots have sixteen times more nutrients then the orange carrots in the store. Purple carrots can be found in a seed catalog now. Baby carrots - the orange ones were made to save the big orange carrots leftovers. The outer skin of the carrot is the most nutritious, don't peel your carrots. The carrot is less nutritious towards the center of the carrot. Food vendors concessionaires should take a look at this book. Every year there is a wealth of new "foods" at the county and state fairs. It also seems like there is a race to develop good tasting nutrition less foods to sell. Here is a challenge to you food vendors. Can you make a good tasting food that is high in nutrition? The public is becoming more and more aware of nutrition. Listen to this podcast on Science Friday from the author of Eating on the Wild Side nEating on the Wild Side, author Jo Robinson reveals how [...]
